About Carlos

Hawaiian born and raised, Carlos Eyles has been tentatively residing along the California coastline for much of his adult life. A spear fisherman during his teens, he began to hunt the blue water for game fish in the mid-sixties and traveled extensively throughout the Sea of Cortez in those early years.

Later, he sailed single-handed for seven years among the islands of California, where he lived off the sea and recorded his experiences in books, The Last of the Blue Water Hunters, Secret Seas, and the novel, Dolphin Borne.

In addition to his other publications, which include Diving Free, Sea Stalking, and a book of photography entitled Sea Shadows, Carlos has contributed scores of articles for magazines throughout the world. He is a world-renowned underwater photographer, specializing in images of marine mammals, and sharks. Carlos' award winning images have been widely published and exhibited in the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, the Queen Mary Museum, and displayed in galleries throughout California. His most recent book, The Blue Edge is available now.
